It was 31 Dec 07. There was a New Year countdown celebration at Marina Bay. We decided to check out the event.
From City Hall MRT station, on our way to Esplanade, we saw some children's art exhibits at the underground passageway. They were very creative and interesting.
A song and dance performance outside the Esplanade building..
Photography enthusiasts arrived early, setting up tripods along Singapore River, preparing to capture the fireworks and city skyline. It would be several more hours before midnight.
At 7pm, the sky was getting darker. Many were waiting patiently.
At about 7:30pm, more people settled along the river, getting ready for the grand countdown and fireworks. The buildings were led up.
We decided to have dinner. We passed by Gluttons Bay, but thought that it was too crowded.
This is part of the Esplanade building..
We headed towards Marina Square for dinner. Ice-cream anyone?
We then had coffee at a cafe, sipping and chatting for almost 3 hours. By this time, Marina Bay was extremely crowded. We were not able to reach the Singapore River. I managed to capture this picture, some distance away from the river. At the countdown, atmosphere was exciting.. Everyone, all the best for the New Year!
